Remembrance Day
Originally called Armistice Day, the first Remembrance Day was conducted in 1919 commemorting the end of the First World War - 11 a.m. on the 11th day of November, 1918. Early scenes in the air, at sea, and in the trenches are historic and authentic. Voice excerpts from Churchill and Hitler; the famous words of Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae‘s poem in ‘Flanders Fields‘; and background music ‘from the times‘, bring us to present day Remembrance Day observances. Today, millions pause at 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month to remember - remember all those who fought, who died, and who served our country - during all wars and armed conflicts.
